Creating, editing and moving tasks

Record a task in the right column, adjust the text afterwards and move the card as the work goes on.

Creating

  1. On the board, use New task — the button at the top of the screen — or Add task, at the end of a column.
  2. In the form, choose the Project and the Column.
  3. Write the Title and, if you want, the Description.
  4. Confirm in Create task.

The task is born at the end of the column. Through the command line there is the option to give the position; through the screen, the path is to create and then drag.

If an agent created the item, the card shows it. The authorship marking does not change what the task is — it only says who recorded it.

Editing

Open the card. The item panel brings:

  • Task title — direct editing.
  • Description — an editor with formatting (bold, italic, headings, lists, task list, quote, code, code block, link, divider).

The description saves when you leave the field. If you close the panel with unsaved text, the panel asks before: save and close, or close without saving.

What is not edited here: checklist, comments and attachments have sections of their own, and the rest of the card’s state (column, position) is changed by moving.

When the save is refused

The board stores a revision. If another person (or an agent) changed the same item while you were editing, the save can be refused so as not to overwrite their work. The panel warns that the change was not saved — re-read the item and redo the edit.

Moving

Drag the card to another column, or to another position within the same column. The board reindexes the column after the movement, so the final position is always a continuous sequence.

You can also move without a mouse: the card responds to the keyboard, for those who prefer not to drag.

A detail that confuses: an index out of range is silently adjusted to the column’s limit. If you ask for “position 50” in a column of 4 items, the item goes to the end — there is no error. Check where the card stopped instead of assuming.

Scope and limits

  • Moving does not create or delete a workspace. The board organizes the work; the environment is another thing.
  • Moving does not change the task’s owner. There is no assignee in this screen.
  • The title and description limit is in characters, and the panel refuses instead of cutting.
