Turn off or uninstall the Cloud
Turn the Cloud off in the app (Windows, macOS, Linux with a screen) or uninstall the headless Linux server: what goes and what stays.
On Windows, macOS and Linux with a screen
From the app there is nothing to uninstall: Cloud is just an option turned on in Elyra.
- Open Settings → Elyra Cloud.
- Under Make this computer your Cloud, click Turn off and confirm.
Anyone connected through the address loses the connection immediately. This computer’s projects, terminals and notes stay as they were, and Elyra keeps working normally. To turn it on again, click Turn on.
If another computer uses this Cloud through the app, on that computer you can click Remove, in the Use the Cloud of another computer section: the app forgets this Cloud, and nothing is deleted on the computer that serves it.
On a headless Linux server
On the server, Cloud was installed as a service, and the uninstaller undoes what the installer did.
Destructive operation. The uninstaller stops the server, ends what runs on it and deletes the Cloud profile. Read what goes and what stays before confirming.
elyra cloud desinstalar [--sim] [--json]How to confirm
Before touching anything, the command prints what it is going to do. Then it asks for confirmation:
- In an interactive terminal, type
desinstalarwhen it asks. - In a script, or with no terminal, pass
--sim.
Without confirmation, nothing is removed.
What goes
The uninstaller only undoes what the installer recorded in the inventory, in this order:
- The service
elyra-cloud.service: stops it and deletes the unit (only if it was not edited by hand). - The server processes: the terminals open on the server are ended, along with the public address and the process that keeps the terminals. Save whatever is running in them first.
- The link to the account: releases the server’s address and turns off the activation, freeing the
license device. If the account does not respond, the uninstall continues, warns you, and you turn off the
device at
app.elyra.sh/conta. - Linger, only if the installer turned it on. If it was already on before, it stays on.
- The
elyrapackage, only if the installer installed it; if the installer used the AppImage, it deletes that file. A package that already existed stays. - The
sudorule at/etc/sudoers.d/elyra-cloud-<user>, last, once linger and the package are done. - The Cloud profile (the folder with the license, sessions and inventory), once the previous steps finish.
What stays
- Your projects and files: nothing in them is touched.
- The Elyra Space and notes in your user.
- The libraries the installer put on the system (such as
xvfb), because other programs may use them. - Elyra desktop data on the same machine, if any.
- The agent integration settings and scripts Elyra writes in your home. To remove them, run
elyra agent hooks offbefore uninstalling, and delete by hand only what still carries the Elyra mark. - Remote hosts reached over SSH: the uninstaller never touches them.
What it does not do
- It does not act on any system other than Linux, nor without a Cloud installed: with no Cloud on this machine, it refuses and changes nothing.
- It does not delete while a server runs outside the service: stop it first with
elyra cloud stop. - It does not claim success without a result: at the end it lists each step as done or not done, with
the reason. If a step did not finish, the output says “incomplete uninstall”, names what is missing,
exits with an error and keeps the profile for another attempt. Run
elyra cloud desinstalaragain.
