Once the Cloud is on, whether from the app or on a Linux server, there are two ways to use it: from the browser, on any computer, or from another Elyra.

From the browser

  1. Open https://<your-username>-cloud.elyra.sh.
  2. Without a session, the “Sign in with your Elyra account” screen appears. Click the button.
  3. The Elyra account page opens. Sign in with your account: it asks for a code sent by email as a second factor.
  4. You return to the address already inside Elyra, with the projects, terminals and cards of the computer that is the Cloud.

Only the owner of the license that turned the Cloud on can sign in. The open address gives nobody access without the account.

From another Elyra

On a second computer with Elyra installed, you open the Cloud’s projects directly in the app, with no browser.

  1. Open Settings and go to Elyra Cloud.
  2. Under Use the Cloud of another computer, click Connect.
  3. Elyra asks for a code and opens your account in the browser. Type the code there and approve. Only approve if you asked for it just now.
  4. The card shows Connected to and the address of your Cloud, with the projects it has.
  5. Click Use this Cloud. The app now shows the Cloud’s projects, terminals and cards.

To go back to this computer’s projects, use Back to this computer. Remove makes this app forget the Cloud; nothing is deleted on the computer that is the Cloud.

In version 0.0.17, this option is called Connect to my Cloud.

If the computer that is the Cloud is off, “Cloud offline” appears. Turn it on and use Check again.

The browser session

  • The session lasts 15 minutes, and the Cloud renews it with the account every 10 minutes. You do not need to sign in again while renewal works.
  • If the Elyra account goes offline, access continues for up to 1 hour after the last renewal, and Elyra shows the notice “no contact with the Elyra account since HH:MM”. After that, the session drops and you sign in again when the account is back.
  • Restarting the Cloud does not sign anyone out: sessions are kept on the computer. If it stays off for longer than the session lasts, sign in again when it is back.
  • You can use the Cloud in several browsers and devices at the same time. Each one has its own session.

Sign out

In Settings, in the Account section (which only exists when you use Elyra from the browser), use “Sign out of the account in this browser” and confirm with Sign out. You return to the sign-in screen.

Signing out affects only that browser: the others stay connected. To drop the others, end the sessions in the Elyra account panel.

When signing in does not work

What you see What to do
“The sign-in attempt expired” Click Start again. An attempt lasts 15 minutes.
“The server changed its key; sign in again” Sign in again. The account already has the new key.
“Could not reach the server” Check that the computer that is the Cloud is on and online.
Error page 1033 right after turning the Cloud on The address takes a moment to respond. See Troubleshooting.
