Board columns
Create, rename, paint, move and remove columns — knowing that removing a column never deletes its tasks.
Columns are the stages of your flow: to do, in progress, in review, done — whatever makes sense for your project.
Create
Use New column, at the top of the board, and give it a name.
The limit is 12 columns per board. When you try the thirteenth, creation is refused — the board says it reached the limit, instead of creating a column that would not fit.
Adjust
In Column settings (in the column’s menu) there are three fields:
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Name | The column’s label |
| Color | The color that marks the column on the rail |
| Glyph | The column’s icon |
Colors and icons come from a fixed palette. An identifier outside the palette is refused with an invalid color or glyph error — it is not possible to save an arbitrary color.
Renaming a column does not move nor change any of its tasks.
Move
Move left and Move right shift the column one position at a time. The screen works in steps precisely so the result is predictable: each click changes the order in one place only.
Remove
Remove deletes the column. What happens to its tasks is the point that matters:
- The items go to the neighboring column. Nothing is left orphaned. Removing a column never deletes tasks.
- The last column is refused. A board needs at least one column, so the panel does not let you get to zero.
The panel informs where the items went, naming the column that received them.
Scope and limits
- Removing a column is not deleting work. If the intent was to discard the tasks, they need to be deleted one by one — and that is destructive.
- The order of the columns belongs to that project’s board. It does not affect workspaces nor other projects.
